"Miejab" is a hijab brand created by a textile manufacturer with over 125 years of history in Katsuyama City, Fukui Prefecture.
Our Mission
We aim to create a society where women can shine independently and freely. To us, independence means living with a sense of style, regardless of whether one works outside the home. Clothing is a part of this expression. We hope that Miejab hijabs will enhance your beauty and bring comfort to your daily life, supporting the independence of Muslima. Using our extensive experience in producing high-end textiles for women's clothing, we have developed hijabs that are uniquely smooth and easy to wear.
History and Commitment
For 125 years, Kasakawa has been a leader in producing women's textiles in Fukui, a renowned textile region. Known as "Satin Kasakawa," we have been at the forefront of Japanese synthetic fiber technology. We oversee every step of the process, from selecting and processing yarn (twisting), weaving, and dyeing to sewing to ensure the highest quality hijabs.
Our Inspiration
Our journey began with meeting Muslimah wearing vibrant hijabs. They have a keen eye for subtle color differences and texture, choosing what makes them look and feel their best. We were amazed by their sensitivity to textiles despite not working in the textile industry. Learning about their slight dissatisfaction with existing hijabs, we started developing a new line to address these issues using our extensive knowledge and experience.
Manufacturing Process
After numerous trials, from yarn selection to processing, weaving, dyeing, and sewing, we finally created a hijab fabric you’ll love wearing all day. Miejab’s hijabs are soft and supple, with the perfect balance of firmness and thickness to create a beautiful drape. The brand name “Miejab” is a combination of “Miyabi,” which means elegance in Japanese, and “Hijab.” As the name suggests, simply wrapping it creates an elegant look.
Brand Owner
Masayo Kasakawa, the brand owner, was born into the Kasakawa textile family, which has been in operation for 125 years. She loved watching the weaving process from a young age, growing up surrounded by skilled artisans. After graduating from university, she worked as an editor but wanted to explore textile manufacturing. In 2016, she returned to Fukui and discovered the demand for high-quality hijabs among Muslim women. She wanted to support them with the functional and high-quality textiles produced by Kasakawa, and in 2024, she founded the hijab brand "miejab."
